Gas Fireplaces do not need electricity
Gas fireplaces do not need electricity to make them work, unless your gas fireplace has a blower built into it. Even so, it will still work! The function I like most about a gas fireplace is the fact that when I want to enjoy my fireplace, I simply throw a switch to turn it on. When I am done with it and want to go to bed, I simply turn it off!
These switches I am talking about look and operate like any other ordinary switch on the walls in your home. This switch sends a signal to the fireplace to turn it on & off with what is known as MILLI-VOLTS. This requires NO electricity to activate the fireplace. Gas fireplaces today have made fantastic advancements. The quality of flame and real life wood burning logs with glowing embers will make it difficult to identify between a real fireplace and a gas unit!
There are many types of gas fireplace units on the market and a few good suppliers right here in Connecticut with fully functional showrooms. They will be happy to sell and install their products for a price obviously, but if you're looking for a truly built in experience for that above and beyond look, you're going to need a contractor that can custom build you a fireplace mantel that will enhance & aesthetically fit your CT home. This may include custom built ins that surround the fireplace mantel and stretch out down the walls as high as the ceilings. You may decide to install a flat screen television above the mantel with theatrical surround sound experience with completely concealed wiring. All these ideas will effect the size of your fireplace choice, keeping in mind that aesthetics will need to be recognized. We have many fireplace mantels to choose from to get you started in your planning stages. All you need is your imagination!
